    Three Reasons You Should Make Time to Volunteer

    Over the past several years, I’ve found volunteering creeping into my life in more meaningful ways than ever before. I joined The Junior League of San Francisco over four years ago at the behest of a friend. Though I joined mostly to make new friends, I’ve found the community and learning opportunities more influential life than any paid position I’ve had in a long time. And I did achieve my original goal of making friends—the women I’ve met there have truly been amazing.     What I Did, What I’m Doing

    The Tahoe area offers so many events, many of which are free, that it’s difficult to choose what I’m going to do each week. Right now, I’m just trying to see what the offerings are all about so that I can be more strategic in the future. If you have any suggestions for can’t miss events, please let me know in the comments! Since my green thumb is pretty much nonexistent in the best of circumstances, growing anything in high altitude seems pretty unlikely.     Renovation Update: The Dust Has Settled… Onto Our New Floors

    Ahhh… things are moving so quickly now! This puts my aversion to making decisions to the test as we have to pick out the final details that will bring the room together. Here’s where we are this week: The floors arrived and are nearly installed! They look fantastic and are exactly what we’d hoped for all those months ago when we repeatedly visited the flooring store. We went with a medium brown in variable width and length, which gives the floor some interest. In my opinion, this pattern provides a luxe feel while still feeling homey. But before they could install the floor, they had to remove my beloved in-floor…
